Certified Marina Manager

The internationally recognised Certified Marina Manager (CMM) designation is the assurance that your future can be both financially and professionally rewarding. It is a major step toward international recognition as a senior marina manager who has distinguished himself or herself as an outstanding professional.

Am I ready to become a CMM Candidate?
You have 5 years Marina Manager experience and during the five years have done all of the following:

  • Manage a marina operation with an annual turnover of at least US $100 0000/ £ 600 000 / € 750 000/ Aus $ 1000 0000
  • Manage a marina business with at least 100 berth/moorings and/or drystack
  • Spend at least 60% of your time on, financial planning, marketing and customer relations and people management
  • Manage at least 6 employees
  • Be an active member of a trade association
  • Completed the Advanced Marina Managers School within the last 2 years
  • Can satisfy the review committee that your marina management experience passes the 18 point test (see CMM Applicant Handbook)

Tony Browne CMM, Chairman of the GMI: The Certified Marina Managers accreditation employs a rigorous set of criteria and a robust application process that ensures candidates have met the high standards required. This results in a very credible accreditation which is immediately recognisable across the industry, providing enhanced employment and career progression opportunities.

The IMM and AMM courses as a lead up to the CMM application not only deliver a fundamental global overview of marina management best practice, but also open the door to invaluable peer to peer networking opportunities.

I would strongly encourage anyone looking at furthering their career to start the process by reading the relevant material and enrolling in an IMM course.

Andy Savill, CMM (Marina Manager, JA Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa in Dubai):“A few years after completing my IMM & AMM I achieved my Certified Marina Manager which was a great accomplishment and allowed me to position myself in my chosen career industry. The IMM & AMM courses offer a great 360 degree perspective into the foundations for a safe, environment friendly and financially rewarding marina operation. One of the best points of these courses are the networking benefits and the strong working relationships with other marina operators. The rigorous application process for the CMM allows your proven achievements to be on display and opens them up to criticism or merit depending on your level. The CMM ensures a very high standard across the board and allows employers and owners of marinas an element of security when sourcing the correct people to operate their marinas.”
