Courses and events

GMI through its partners delivers a range of courses for those working or looking to work in the Marinas industry with the aim that all Marina staff can access education, training and certification. In addition to Marina specific courses the partners deliver a range of business courses aimed at personal and business development such as customer service, marketing Icomia logoand sales.

GMI courses are endorsed by the International Council of Marine Industry Associations.

Courses

Intermediate Marina Managers (IMM)

The residential intermediate course is designed to provide marina personnel in a leadership position with fast-track training in the critical issues in marinas. It is aimed at managers, supervisors and foremen who have had at least one full year of experience working at this level.

Leading speakers will present a wide variety of topics including:

Each day is packed with a range of learning opportunities, including formal classes and lectures, informal discussions, field trip to nearby marinas, group projects, marina/boatyard industry networking and evening classes and discussions.

Advanced Marina Manager (AMM)

The Advanced Marina Management (AMM) programme is a profit-management training course designed for senior marina professionals.

Through small groups, interactive workshops and specific case studies, the AMM course examines such topics as profit-centre management, regulations and permitting, operations, marina law, human-resource management, risk management and loss control, improving the quality and value of services, policy and procedure manuals, business strategy and financial management, marketing, promotion, and pricing.

The AMM School offers its graduates a national and international business perspective on management issues, and a long-term network of international contacts to rely on in the This six-day residential course is designed for marina and boatyard managers who have at least three years relevant management experience. Delegates who successfully complete the course will be recognised as meeting one of the requirements to become a Certified Marina Manager CMM.

Marina Operatives UK

The Marina Operatives Course (UK) is a modular programme, specifically designed with the requirements of a modern marina in mind. It will enable your staff members to train in all areas of the business whilst on-the-job, saving you precious time, that would be lost if staff had to attend courses offsite.

The candidate will work through a series of modules in the course workbook, covering areas such as Customer Care, Marina and Plant Maintenance, Berthing Administration, Boat Handling and Safety.

Marinas 101

This one-day course is designed for those who are contemplating or have recently commenced, a career in the marina industry and are seeking to broaden their understanding of marinas, meet and share ideas and learn the fundamentals of marina management and operations. This course will feature expert instruction by teaching professionals, Certified Marina Managers (CMMs) and other specialists in their fields
